Women enjoy equal rights and about fifty percent pursue a career. In that area black forest lies in the southeast of the country. The name comes from the dark conifers that clothe its mountain slopes and provides timber for the traditional wooden houses. Tourists flock to the region attracted by the beauty of the scenery, spa resorts such as Baden-Baden and Lake Constance which lies nearby. Crete is the largest of the Greek islands at eight thousand square kilometer southeast of the Greek main land. More than six million on the island and one third of Cretans are farmers. Many people work in tourism. Each year more than twelve million tourists visit Greece attracted by its warm climate, ancient monuments and beautiful islands.
